1.
Waiting for one student, or one band member, or one o' clock, or...... beat one. Written while waiting for one student, about waiting for beat one. June 2011.
2.
Bass Baiao 05:28
I wrote this after purchasing a large bass drum on a whim. I named it "bass drum baiao" but changed it once the bass took the melody. April 2011.
3.
Lead the Way 04:45
Named after "Catch Up" which was written on the same day in the same session, the two songs have a lot in common, but I liked this one more... : )
4.
Ohio Beach 05:05
Written in the spring of 2002 at my parents house, arranged in 2005 for Jim Knapp's arranging class at Cornish. Titled after a little secluded public beach at the end of Ohio st. in west Bremerton.... "the spot"
5.
Frog Dance 04:33
A little samba number, written in a guitar lesson as 3 separate rhythm reading exercises. arranged and harmonized a few days later. Inspired by a trip to Alaska I took with Jovino Santos-Neto and his quintet in the summer of 2010.
6.
Room 114 08:07
Written with and for my 2011-2012 Jazz theory class at Cornish College of the arts. I taught in Room 114, the same room many of these songs where written in.
7.
Wilmington 05:52
Written back in 2004 for a theory assignment at Cornish. It's been played by many people throughout the years, but none as swinging as these guys. nice work! The title comes from a Shel Silverstien poem.
8.
Catch Up 05:02
Written in conjunction with "Lead the Way" the title refers to how in the "B" section, the melody gets separated from the harmony and has to "Catch Up"... which it (usually) does. July 2011
9.
This was what happened after I learn a few "Choros" in the summer of 2010. I had all of these non-stop lines in my head and decided to write a little dance... AABACCA
10.
Chico 05:42
Wrote this one back in 2001. One of My first tunes, wrote it for my cat, also, has been recorded under the title "Go Bears" with reptet.
